Channels of Healing
This book is a good summary of Biblical teachings which relate to healing. The questions at the end of each chapter are thought-provoking.
Bishop Dowling succeeded in highlighting the healing quality and effects of the Bible fron Genesis through Revelations, and including The Apocrypha. His commentary on each passage of Scripture used in this exciting healing journey were clear, uncomplicated, and extremely deep and meaningful.
Channels of Healing could be useful in introducing Christian Healing to the entire church (which is one of the roadblocks OSL is facing.

The OSL Book Committee recommend this book for the OSL Required List.

Sent to Heal
This excellent handbook on Christian Healing addresses every question one could ask about the Healing Ministry. It does this in a clear , exploratory manner that takes an honest look at every aspect (negative and positive) of opposing views. It explores the questions of why, how, when , who and where Christian Healing should be involved.
The reasoning is excellent. The topics covered are what anyone interested in healing through Jesus Christ needs to know. The format makes it possible to be a study. The print and language make it very readable, although it is not a "quick" read , but is very thought -provoking. ,
This book is concretely Biblically based. The author also refers to other well known authorities in the Healing Ministry.
The OSL Book Committee recommend this book for the OSL Required Reading List.

Deadly Emotions
Dr. Colbert does an excellent job of relating, in great detail, the state of our health to the kinds of emotions we experience and entertain.
After many chapters of the bad news concerning negative emotions, the author gives us the Good News of how to heal (or prevent) these deadly emotions. Love, joy, peace and forgiveness are available to all of us. And of course, "the greatest of these is love".
This book is very deep with a profound message everyone needs to hear. It might be a bit overwhelming for many people who are new to the Healing Ministry.
The OSL Book Committee recommends that this book be placed on the OSL Advanced Reading List.

Hope for The Wounded Heart
This Biblically based book is deep, sensitive and provaocative. The author described how very painful incidents in her life made her aware of a very life-saving connection to Our Creator and Saviour. After the initial steps of her spiritual journey, there were many starts, stops, detours and distractions. Mercifully, the Lord never let her off the hook, and she did not want to be off the hook. She began to realize that there were no coincidences in life, but only God-incidences. Each spiritual/emotional mountain she was forced to climb brought her closer in contact with The Lord.
As the author grew spiritually and emotionally, she was put in contact with people who were in deep need for spiritual and emotional help and direction. She felt a deep urge to acquire the credentials needed to enable her to offer the help needed for emotional and spiritual healing.
As the book unfolds important developments in Deborah's life, she intertwines prayers and exercises she now uses (based on her personal experiences.) The prayers are authentic, and the suggested exercises in each chapter are excellent for spiritual growth.
This book would be a good addition to the OSL Book list, especially aimed at people who are involved as Spiritual/Mental Counselors.
The OSL Book Committee recommends this book for the OSL Advanced Reading List.

Learning to do What Jesus Did
Michael Evans begins by clarifying the Biblical basis for healing prayer. He then discusses various physical, emotional and spiritual conditions that call for healing prayer.
The author then gets into the "how to" of Healing Prayer. Proceedures and forms for selecting and training teams, interviewing persons coming for healing, and holding Healing Conferences are provided. The author has provided the structure needed for a functioning Healing Ministry.
This book has excellent and very helpful appendices for easy and ready reference and guidance during the teaching/learning process, and for application before, during and after ministry.

The OSL Book Committee recommended this book to be placed on the OSL Advanced Reading List.
