Fr. James Ross, beloved OSL Executive Chaplain, passes away……
Rev. Fr. James Henry Ross
June 14, 1924 – January 20, 2011
Rev. Fr. James Henry Ross was born in Morristown, New Jersey on June 15 1924. He went home to be with the Lord on January 20th. In West palm Beach.
He is survived by his wife Jane, Susan and Daniel Kneip, David and Deborah Ross, Cherie Ross, William Robert Gitler Jr. and Alice, together with his grandchildren Ashley, Ryan, Sarah, Christopher, Nicholas, Eric, and Aaron. Fr. Jim served in both in the Navy and the Army in the Pacific.
He was ordained a Priest after the order of Melchizedek. He co-founded the Fellowship of St. Thomas under the auspices of the Syro Chaldean Church. He was received as a Priest in the Charismatic Episcopal Church by Archbishop Dale Howard In April 1977 and was made Rector of The Church of The Redeemer in December 1977 retiring in 2000. He served as Priest in Residence at the Church of The Holy Comforter, Stuart. FL.
Fr. Jim served in many offices in the Order of St. Luke serving as International Liaison and Executive Chaplain and was a Board Member for 16 years. He served as Chair of the North Florida Camps Farthest Out and was co-founder of the CFO Resurrection Retreat. He was a speaker and Leader at several CFO retreats in the United States. A Celebration of Life & Memorial Service will be held at the Cathedral Church of the Resurrection, 6701 S.W. 25th Street, FL 33023 on Friday February 4th at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM at the South Florida National Cemetery 6501 State Rd. 7 Lake Worth, FL 33449.
