OSL News

Region 3 election results are in...

On behalf of the Board Members of the Order of St. Luke the Physician and Region 3, I want to thank Lee McVay for being the Interim Director of our Region. His administration skills as well as his spiritual oversight were deeply appreciated while we were in a re-organizational season. Now, as Lee would say, it is time to move forward, and we will.

We had our election and the Rev. John Rice of North Carolina is now our Regional Director. We look forward to working with Rev. John as he is guided by the Holy Spirit and share his gifts of teaching and healing with all of us. He will be inducted as Director of Region 3 at our June North American Conference in San Diego in June.

John_Rice.jpgJohn has been an active member of OSL for many years, serving at the local, state, and national levels. He initially became an OSL chaplain for the Mountain Chapter in Asheville, NC and continues to serve as chaplain for the River of Healing Chapter in Hayesville, NC, where he is pastor of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. From 2006 to 2009, John was the OSL North Carolina State Chaplain. In 2010, he became a member of the OSL North American Board, currently serving as board vice-president.

John loves to pray with others for God’s gift of healing – the gift of wellness and wholeness. He has been blessed to lead healing prayer workshops in dozens of churches throughout Region 3 over the past fifteen years. Many of these workshops helped provide the energy and enthusiasm to form new OSL chapters, mostly in western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina. Over the last three years, John has led a healing prayer team to the Diocese of Durgapur, located between Kolkuta, India and Bangladesh. At the invitation of their Bishop, the team will soon be making their third visit, with their goal of establishing two OSL Chapters this year. These will be the first OSL Chapters in India!

John has said regarding Region 3, “I feel called to be a part of working with others to bring new energy and expansion of Jesus’ healing ministry for Region 3. This would be a source of excitement and great blessing for me personally.”
